week 8 volley ball

Today we focused on match situations again and played a lot of games aiming to get everyone player involved and using our three touches on our side to get the ball on the other side of the court. We looked more into aiming at certain place of the court or targeting another member of the other team. I think that I’ve improved on my dig set and serve.
Strengths: i still believe that my two biggest strengths are setting people up for the dig and under arm serving. i do well to execute the serve getting the ball over the net and into the danger areas and aiming to different people and places of the court.
Weakness: the only skill i think i need to improve on the most is the spike as i think i am struggling the most with this skill than any other skill. i think that i struggled the most on the spike because of the timing of the the jump and keeping the ball low instead of hitting it at the back of the court.
Opportunities: accessing the gym would enable me to improve some of the techniques of of the spike therefore this can enable me to improve.
Threat:the only barrier that will stop me from improving is the lack of volley ball clubs in the area.

Week 7 volley ball

Today we learned different tactics to learn how to aim for positions and different players. In terms of my performance I personally think that I was able to aim for the positions and for the person. I think that my communication was good as well however the tram around me wasn’t really good at communicating. I also tried out being a setter and I thought I was quite good at being a setter popping of to my team mates so set them up for a spike. I have also improved on my basic skills as well like the dig set and serve.

Strengths – i think that my biggest strengths are the dig set and serve. the set i think is probably the best out of the three as i am really good and setting my players up the spike or hit the ball over the net. i’m improving on the dig every session and i win a lot points from my serves.

Weakness- i still think the spike is one of my weak points purely because i struggle to get the timing and right height of my jump to connect with the ball.

Opportunities – i could access the college sports hall and equipment to try improve my volleyball weakness.

Threats -injuries from football or college commitments could prevent me from trying to improve my volleyball skills

Week 5, Performance in game

In this lesson we focused on all round performance and positioning in the game looking to use all the skills in one game. it was important to note that everyone had three touches of the ball on one side of the court but one touch per person.

I think my strengths were using the dig to set my team mates off to hit the ball across the net and I also I think I had a very good serve and won a lot of points from it

in terms of weakness i think that i need to communicate more with the team mates and use the three touches more effectively. this would be beneficial so then we can know who needs to make that touch instead of all going for the ball.

in terms of opportunities i could improve through you tube videos or finding a volley ball club to join.

The only threats could be that my main sport is football and getting injured could prevent me from playing my main sport.

Week 4 Volley Ball

This week we moved onto the spike. The spike is the act of scoring a point by slamming the ball over the net into the oppositions court effectively and aggressively. When doing the spike its important to aim as close the the net on the oppositions court so then they will not be able to attack the ball and it will be a guaranteed point for your team.

Strengths: i made sure that i always contacted the ball fully with my full hand and i do well to direct the ball near to the net. i am also good at getting a good amount of height when jumping for the the ball and i think that this is a technique that i have mastered

Weakness: the skill that required improvement was judging the jump when trying to connect the ball and also trying to get it as close to the net as possible so then it would be impossible for the opponent to get the ball.

Opportunities: going to the gym could physically impact my volley ball performances for example working on jumping could improve my performance of the spike. i could also train more by finding a local volley ball club this could improve my performance as it could help me learn more about the sport.

Threat: the only barrier that would be stopping me from getting better at the sport is the lack of time i would be able to spend on trying to find a volley ball club and time to attend a volley ball club.

Volley ball, Week 3

In week 3 of volley ball we looked back the dig set and serve however we focused on three factors: The preparation, Execution and Recovery. On the second picture I wrote how the prepare execute and recover for each of the different techniques and on the first picture I filled in how good I thought I was at doing the different technique.

think that my main strength was the preparation the dig and the execution of the dig. following up from the dig my other strength would be the under arm serve.

my weakness would be preparation for the over arm serve as i don’t think i can the throw right to hit the ball well.

A threat from trying to improve could be my social life, i don’t think i will have enough time to join a volley ball club in my spare time due to time and family commitments.

Week 2, Volleyball

At the start of the session we recapped on the set and the dig from week one looking back at the techniques that we need to use for the set and dig for example getting low for the dig and using the fingers and thumbs for the set.

We then learned how to use the serve. There are two different types of serve: the overarm serve and the underarm serve. When doing the over arm serve my positioning and throwing was good and I was accurate when hitting the volley ball. I think that I was better at executing the underarm serve. I made good contact with the ball and I was good at getting it up and over and i think that was my main strength. my main weakness was trying to execute to over arm serve effectively. i was very inaccurate when trying to use this serve. one barrier of my training more is that i have no time to join volley ball clubs due to playing football and other commitments how ever watch videos and practicing at home is a good opportunity for me to practice more volley ball

Week 1, introduction

My main strengths were in volley ball were extending my arms when setting the ball and also bending my legs and getting them in the right position the get ready for the set. When doing the set I think that I need to improve on using my fingers to push the ball up instead of using the palm of my hands. I also learned a few techniques for the dig that consist of the squat position, wrist and up and over arm strength. Out of all these techniques I think that my main strength is the squat position. I believe that I was good at maintaining the squat position and rising with my hands to make contact with the ball. When digging I think I need to improve the use of my wrist as the is probably the most important part of the the dig, without the wrist you will not be able to connect with the volley ball well therefore this is a weakness. a threat to this may be that i will not have a lot of time to focus on volley ball as i have more of an interest in football. an opportunity i have is to go the college sports hall and practice more volley ball.
